Who is Sho?

Who am I?

…Glad you asked.

I’m loud. A little ratchet. Very righteous. And above all—unapologetically me.

I’ve always been bold about my faith and my relationship with God. But for the longest, I didn’t see representation for the unfiltered Christian woman—the kind you can’t quite explain because she doesn’t fit the mold. The loud Christian. The kinda ratchet Christian. The one who shouts “ayeee” in worship and at brunch. The woman not bound by religion, but free in relationship.

Do you know her?
Well now you do, cause that is me.

And I didn’t see a community for women like us—women of faith who weren’t trying to be perfect, polished, or palatable, but deeply rooted and wildly real. Women ready to break the norms of religion to build a lasting, personal relationship with God Himself.

So, Pretty & Prayed Up was born.

The mission was simple: create a space where women don’t have to choose between who they are and who God is calling them to be. A community for women who may not know every scripture, every worship song, or even God at all—yet. Because over here at Pretty & Prayed Up, whatever you look like, wherever you’re coming from, you’re welcomed with open arms… just like Jesus welcomed us.

Yes—you can be popping and love the Lord. You can be fly, faithful, and still speak the fruit of His Word while changing the world.

My personal mission:
To empower the unfiltered Christian woman to be everything God called her to be—despite what His judgmental (and frankly, annoying) children might think.

With many expressions,
SHO

A Black Girl and Her Pen: A Collection of Prompted Short Stories

What happens when you give five brilliant Black women writers a pen and tell them to let their imaginations run wild? Pure magic.

The prompted short stories in this must-read anthology weave through genres like your favorite playlist, serving up everything from sweet romance to spine-tingling thriller, with a dash of spicy erotica.

Each story is as unique as the Black girl who penned it, but they all share one thing: the raw, unfiltered power of Black women's voices.

So grab your wine, get comfortable, and prepare to be drawn into the imaginations of Brandi Nikkale, DeQuindra Renea, Ray The Divine, Sho McKinney, and Teedra Patrice.

Trigger Warnings: Yes.
