start the hell over girl…its okay
Happy new year! By the time you are reading this, it will probably be passing January 1st, but this was written a month ago. So why the hell am I saying, “Happy New Year!” a whole month after? Well, the answer is simple. It’s a “new year” every day at midnight for me. LOL. Crazy right? Okay good, I didn’t think it was. But there’s a reason, I have a new year! every day… and the answer is simple – I control how my life refreshes and restarts and for me, I choose to reset daily.
I’m not sure how 2023 treated you, but I will say this was a year of stillness yet moving right along. I will have to say this year was the kindest year I have ever experienced, and I know it was due to one thing I significantly changed in my life. Restarting – on my terms. For many years, I and many others have lived and programmed our lives to live by timelines, deadlines, and rules only to be fearful of the road ahead we believe were filled with consequences that didn’t even exist. We typically begin to condition our mind that when we do want to pick up a new hobby, get a new job, break off the relationship, write the book, move to the new city, hell try a new recipe – we must wait until this “man-created of insignificant dates” pop up on completely unaware that our days, weeks, and months, even years are our OWN
THAT’S A LIE. A big ol dumb one had I heard one. (My granny favorite line. Lol)
When I began to allow my days to be prioritized according to my own doing and time -my peace appeared.
When I began to not carry over the misfortunes, or simple bad Monday blues onto Tuesday – my joy arrived.
When I began to start a new book reading goal on a random Wednesday instead of waiting for the next month – my glee couldn’t be hidden.
When I began to give myself grace for continuously starting a new to-do list, even when the old one was finished – my imaginary expectations of me failing were no longer.
So, in closing, I hope that this new year allows you to ditch the rules, and celebrate, restart, reset on a more recurring basis, even its daily. You are in complete control of how your dreams, pursuits, passions, and even life pans out – and at any given time, you are unhappy, unsatisfied, or even wanting to try something new – do that shit. Right then and there. Make every day a happy new year, for a happy new life that will continuously be waiting on you.
Happy new year!
..xoxo
